These criteria include basic pilot minimums, checkout procedures, and weather minimums – all established to guarantee a safe environment.
NOTE: The Chief Flight Instructor, Assistant Chief Flight Instructor, or designee, may authorize deviations from the below described policies, procedures, and minimums as required.

Basic Pilot Requirements
- Hold a valid FAA pilot certificate (Air Fleet will retain a copy.)
- Hold current medical certificate (Air Fleet will retain a copy.)
- Logbook for proof of currency (Air Fleet will retain a copy of the last two pages.)
- Air Fleet Training Systems Rental Agreement
- Complete an Air Fleet Training Systems Renter Checkout questionnaire for each aircraft
- Complete appropriate checkout flights with an Air Fleet CFI (as described below)
- A pilot who has completed a checkout and has been approved to rent a certain make and model of aircraft is automatically approved to rent other models with equivalent or lesser horsepower (i.e., A pilot checked out in a C-172SP is considered proficient in a C-172P)
Basic Checkout Procedures
- One-hour ground instruction on New York airspace
- Two checkout flights on two separate days (approximately one hour each)
- Air Fleet does not guarantee proficiency in the allotted amount of time. Any additional training that is needed for proficiency will be provided at the current rate being charged. Air Fleet reserves the right to refuse rental.
Special Aircraft Requirements
Our higher performance aircraft have time requirements on them to satisfy insurance premiums. However, these minimum times may be waived at the discretion of the Chief Flight Instructor.
